Gökçeada has become an important tourist center with it's natural living, organic products and others.Gokceada close to major cities such as Bursa Istanbul and Izmir. Gökçeada is located in the westernmost point of Turkey and the biggest island of Turkey.Gokceada is ideal for surf sports and some surf organizations have been made.
Some places to visit at Gökçeada
Cheese Rocks (Peynir Kayalıkları in Turkish) : On the left side of the Kuzu Harbor(Kuzu limanı in Turkish)there is a place called Cape Kaşkaval and there are interesting rock formations which called cheese reefs.The rock formations are similar to stacked cheese mold.
Historic Greek Village: Bademli, Zeytinli, Tepeköy and Dereköy villages was declared an urban conservation area and These villages have impressive views. You can spend a good time with beautiful landscapes of the village , Greek restaurant-cafe and nostalgic environments. Some houses restored and used as summer cottages.
Gökçeada Underwater National Park: The park is located between Yelkenkaya and Çiftlik bay. There are some underwater cave entrances and the park is habitat for many marine species, including Mediterranean monk seal. The island is on the transit route between the Mediterranean and Black Sea sea creatures so It has rich fisheries around.
Gökçeada Salt Lake: It is located in the middle of Aydincik and Kefalos beach. The lake entirely composed with sea water and rain. The lake eliminates the island folk's need of salt. The lake is hosting a large number of waterfowls like.
Gokceada Rock Tombs: It islocated on the right side of the asphalt road that connects Ugurlu and Aydıncık. It is estimated that the Rock Tombs are belog to Roman period.It is consists of two graves which carved into a large rock.
