Vize is 1.5 hour distance (138 km) from Istanbul and It is not a place hardly known. Slow city Vize (cittaslow) in Turkey has beautiful nature, historical places, culture . Vise's history dates back to 4000 BC. Vize is a district of Kırklareli province in Turkey today. Some historic sites in Vize are Vize castle and city walls, the ancient theater, Ferhat Bey Turkish bath, Ghazi Suleiman Pasha Mosque, Asmakayalar cave monastery.
The names of the districts throughout history are Bizya, Bizye, Bida, Biza, Vissa, Vizili and finally Vize. Vise and regions conquest by the Ottomans 1. Murad at at (1362-1389). Vize is a district of Kırklareli province and Part of the Marmara region of Thrace. Istıranca Mountains (Star Mountains) separate the district two. Segments of Istıranca Mountains which overlooked to the Black Sea is covered with oak and beech forests. There are important bays along the Black Sea coast line in Vize. Especially in the summer,There are posibilities of sand and water sports, camping and picnicking facilities.
Some Places to visit in Vize
Ancient Theatre : After the excavations of Some objects from Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods were found by archaeologists. These objects can be seen in Kırklareli Museum.
Şerbetdar Hasan Bey (Pasha) Mosque : Ownership of the building belongs to the General Directorate of Foundations. The mosque is located at Mimar Sinan district.
Ferhat Bey Turkish bath : The place is located in Mimar Sinan District's Bath Street. Bath continues from Roman period to the present day. The bath was inserted into a double bath form the Ottoman period.
Vize Fortress and fortification wall (Vize Kalesi ve Surlari nTurkish) : Vise fortress is located in Hisartepe. It is understood that during the Byzantine period, some repairs and additions were made at Vize fortress. The fortress repair inscription can be seen in the Edirne museum.
Kıyıköy : Kiyikoy has very rich natural beauty and long clean beaches so It makes Kıyıköy very ideal place for tourists.
Hell Falls (Cehennem Mağaraları in Turkish) : It is located near to the Vize's Kızılağaç village and pouring down from large and small karst rocks. Especially in spring Hell Falls has breathtaking beauty view.
