Ankara is the capital of Turkey and located in the center of Turkey. This is an important city for reasons such as the presence of many government institution in the province, it's history and more. I've listed below some of the places to visit in Ankara.
Kızılay Meydanı(Kızılay Square) is located in central Ankara and it is one of the major squares.
Anadolu Medeniyetler Müzesi(Anatolian Civilizations Museum)
The museum exhibits historical artifact of the civilizations which lived in Anatolia. It is very important and big museum.The periods are Palaeolithic, Neolithic (New / Polished Stone) Age, Chalcolithic (Copper-Stone) Age, Early Bronze Age, Age of Assyrian Trade Colonies,
Old Hittite and Hittite Imperial Period, Phrygian kingdom, Late Hittite Kingdom, The Kingdom of Urartu, Lydian, Anatolian Civilizations from 1200 to Today, Ages Ankara. Other important museums of Ankara are Çengelhan Rahmi Koç museum, Kurtuluş Savaşı museum, Ankara Etnografya museum, Ankara Cumhuriyet museum.
Anıtkabir is the mausoleum of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk who is founder of the republic of Turkey. It is visited by hundreds and thousands of people every year.
Ankara Kalesi(Ankara Castle) The high and rugged bastion castle construction style and the architecture shows I was from ancient history of the period. It is one of the symbols of Ankara and it is estimated to have been built by the Romans.
Augustus Tapınağı(Temple of Augustus) the Temple was built after 25 BC. and located at Ulus. It is reached today after several modifications and regulations.
Arslanhane Mosque is a mosque belonging to the Seljuk period and it is located at Samanpazarı district. There is a ancient lion statue which is buried in the tomb wall. Some other important mosques of Ankara are Kocatepe mosque, Hacı Bayram mosque and more.
Roma Hamamı(Roman Baths)
It is one of the most important historical monuments in Ankara. It is covering an area of approximately 65,000 m2. The studies conducted in 1997-2001 restored its appearance to an open-air museum.
Ulus Square and Victory Monument
Around of the square there are old historical buildings and historical bazaars, museums, mosques. Zafer Anıtı(Victory Monument) was built for memory of the heros of the Independence War.
