Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi)

The Maiden Tower is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and fascinating places of İstanbul. One of the most beautiful activities that can be done at the sunset visiting in İstanbul at The Maiden Tower that you can see the unique and wonderful scenary. Legend of  the Maiden Tower is the center of history extends to 2 thousand 500 years ago.


Maiden's Tower

From the Byzantine Empire to the Ottomans out of there Greek during antiquity dating back to historical times through to the present day. On top of the cliff in the coast of Üsküdar Salacak established the Maiden's Tower is also used as a defensive Castle, Lighthouse. The object that can be used in lighting lanterns in 1719 from leaping flame burning the Maiden's Tower and it is repaired by the city's chief architect Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha. In 1857 the lighthouse Tower and lantern continues to show the way to the ships.

According to legend, a  young man whose name is Leandros falls in love with a young nun, but to fall in love is prohibited for the young. She currently lives in the tower. The young lover goes to the Tower every night to  swim which the young nun's burned fire. In a stormy night when a  fever goes off, the young lover drowns. After this situation the young lady commits suicide.

The second myth is that all we know, the legend of the daughter and the King. Being full of his daughter's love, the King's daughter is said to die with the snakebite. Upon this, the King to make The Maiden Tower. One day the daughter is killed by the snake in a outbound fruits basket, entering the Tower.
