Galata Tower İstanbul

Galata Tower is one of the symbols of İstanbul that the  tower was built in 528 years and also Galata Tower is one of the world's oldest tower.In the year 528 by the Byzantine Emperor Anastasius was built as a lighthouse tower.Tower, in 1204, was damaged extensively during the Crusades.Later on in 1348, it was rebuilt by the Genoese Galata, in addition to walls.

Galata tower is raised between the years 1445-1446. In the first half of the 17th century, IV. Murat period Hezarfen Ahmed Chalabi,with the eagle's wing, which was built of wood in 1638 by attaching the back flew from the Galata Tower to Üsküdar. Since 1717,the tower has been used as a fire observation tower. Which began in 1967 with completion in 1965, the last scale repair, today's view of the tower is provided. Floor height to the tip of the roof is 69.90 meters. Wall thickness of the tower is  3.75 m, inner diameter 8.95 m, the outer diameter is 16.45 meters.




Transportation:

With private car; while the left side of the road Tarlabasi,Taksim Galata Tower can be accessed by entering the nameplate. You can leave your car in the parking area  located around the tower.

By public transport:

First you reach Taksim.Then, after Istiklal Caddesi the late start to finish, you can reach the end of the street about 500 meters below the tower. If you want to come by Eminönü, Karaköy way banks can provide transportation Taking over the hill from the street or use the tunnel.
